On 3 March 2016, the 2nd Self Organized DiEM25 Finnish gathering was held at a lecture hall of the University of Helsinki in Finland.
After the introduction and the main speeches, the participants had the time to present their questions and/or comments.
The discussion turned out to be quite interesting and constructive.
Among the various questions, one of them, was “who, or what, is our enemy?”
The “enemies” in the Democracy-free zone of European Union can be many and at various levels.
One of them is Brussels to which the nation-states seem to have surrendered.
There is also one other extremely dangerous enemy.
This enemy is us, human beings. Our apathy, our choice to prefer being manipulated rather than participating! In order to participate we first need to be responsible, to take our responsability, for then participate. This has scared many of us human beings, it has made us weak, with the result of giving up and choosing to be manipulated. Forgetting our human rights we, at the same time, forget the fact that the faceless monster of the Brussels Democracy-free zone should serve the human rights, democracy, the values of humanism!
It is about time we come together to rise our voices into a united one! It's time to force them to listen to us. It is about time to stand up united for Democracy, for the values of humanism, for justice, for a society in which all citizens have the right to live their life and not just to survive it.
It is not an easy task, it is an extremely difficult task, but not impossible if we try together.
For this reason we must act immediately.
There is no more time to loose. If we fail doing so we, and generations to come, will be doomed.
Let's join to change Europe from a democracy-free zone to a democratic Union.
