The Italian American Museum cordially invites you to attend a lecture entitled, “Sicily and Sicilians” by Prof. Carlo Davoli on Thursday, April 6 at 6:30 PM.

The lecture will deal with the historical path of Sicily and Sicilians throughout the centuries, domination after domination, trying to find an answer to the questions:

– Why did economic difficulties force Sicilians to emigrate?

– Why did the Sicilian word “Mafia” become synonymous with criminality all around the world?

– Why does Sicily, the “California of Europe”, not take advantage of it's natural resources?

– What is being done in Sicily in order to invert the negative trend?

– How does the Sicilian economy compare to the other regional economies of Italy?

– Is there reason for the new generation of Sicilians to have hope for a better future?
