Book Reading by Catherine Gigante-Brown
Please join us for a very special evening of nostalgia, food and fun at the Italian American Museum on Thursday, January 15th. Author Catherine Gigante-Brown will read excerpts from her novel The El in addition to signing copies of the book. Chicchetti (light snacks) will be served.
About the Novel:
Set in 1936 Brooklyn in the shadow of the elevated train (“the El” for short), the compelling tale chronicles two seasons in the lives of an ebullient Italian-American clan with a terrible secret. Gigante-Brown draws upon her rich family history and her love of the borough to craft this tense, timeless saga.
About Catherine Gigante-Brown:
A third-generation Italian-American and Brooklynite, Gigante-Brown’s works of poetry, fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Italian America, the Italian Journal of Wine and Food, Essence and the New York Daily News. She co-authored two biographies for Prometheus Books and a number of her short stories appear in fiction anthologies. The El is her first novel and is available both as an ebook and as a trade paperback from Volossal Publishing.
