Constitution Hill, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, the Italian Institute of Culture and the Italian Section of the HIP Alliance, will host on the 16th October 2014 the opening of the exhibition “Home away from Home: finding refuge in Italy during apartheid”.
Its aim is to bear witness to the story of the figures of the Anti-Apartheid movement who took refuge in Italy in the 70s and 80s. During those years, a mutual understanding was born, which triggered an extraordinary experience of solidarity and cooperation between Italy and Southern Africa. The exhibition transmits the spirit of the times and conveys the strong emotions shared by a generation of Italians and South Africans.
We will be very glad to have you among the guests of the opening ceremony, which will count as guest speaker Ambassador Anthony Mongalo, who was one of the key players of the events.
