“FOREVER BLUES” A FIRST FOR CINEMA AND MUSIC IN NEW ORLEANS /UNA PRIMA PER IL CINEMA E LA MUSICA A NEW ORLEANS
Il 4 maggio e’ la data d’inizio di una tre giorni durante i quali New Orleans ospitera’ “Forever Blues”, un film importante che riesce a fondere il meglio del jazz alla migliore cultura italiana.
Il film non e’ solo un tributo musicale a Louis Armstrong ma e’ anche la storia commovente di come un suonatore di tromba, interpretato dall’icona del cinema internazionale Franco Nero, cambi la vita di un ragazzo sfortunato facendolo approdare al jazz.
Per la prima volta nei 41 anni della storia del Festival del Jazz e della Cultura di New Orleans, viene tenuto un concerto tratto da un film, al quale fa seguito il giorno dopo la prima, presentata indipendentemente dal film prestigioso che ne ha ispirato la colonna sonora.
La musica di “Forever Blues” e’ quella tanto del concerto che del film ed e’ eseguita da Lino Patruno, che e’ il musicista jazz più stimato d’Italia e da Franco Nero.
La proiezione di venerdì 6 maggio, e’ presentata dal produttore Bonnie Palef che, affascinata dal tono piacevole e toccante di “Forever Blues”, ha assecondato l’idea di un’iniziativa culturale del Presidente del Comitato degli Italiani all’Estero Vincenzo Arcobelli e di John Scialdone, per celebrare il 150 mo anniversario dell’unificazione italiana, offrendo questo evento speciale a chiunque appartenga alla comunità’ multiculturale di New Orleans.
“Forever Blues”, dovrebbe piacere ad un folto pubblico, ed ha fatto tornare alla mente del produttore Palef film egualmente motivanti come “Moonstruck” che ricevette la nomination all’Oscar, e “Marvin’s Room”. La proiezione di “Forever Blues” avverrà all’aperto, sotto le stelle, a Piazza d’Italia ed e’ organizzata e sponsorizzata dall’American Italian Cultural Center, dal Comites di Houston, dalla famiglia Scialdone, da Frank Maselli, dal Consolato Generale Italiano di Houston e dall’Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Los Angeles.

La proiezione di “Forever Blues” ed il concerto di Lino Patruno sono due dei molti avvenimenti organizzati negli Stati Uniti per celebrare il 150° anniversario dell’unita italiana grazie al coordinamento dell’Ambasciata d’Italia a Washington e con gli auspici del Presidente della Repubblica italiana.
L’appoggio dato dal Presidente italiano costituisce un riconoscimento lusinghiero per i realizzatori del film e per i musicisti di “Forever Blues”.
La fusione della cultura italiana con la ricca tradizione jazzistica di New Orleans offre alla comunità un’opportunità unica per capire quanto sia forte il rapporto tra la musica ed i giovanissimi in quanto “Forever Blues” e’ centrato sul valore della musica nella vita dei bambini e sulla sua capacita’ di guarire e trasformare l’anima dei giovani.
In Italia ha vinto il Golden Globe dell’Italian Foreign Press association per la “migliore canzone” e Franco Nero un premio della stessa associazione oltre al “Premio Fellini” per la miglior regia.
Franco Nero ha al suo attivo oltre 180 film, e la sua realizzazione teatrale più’ recente, “Lettere a Giulietta”, nella quale e’ coprotagonista la moglie dell’attore Vanessa Redgrave, ha incassato già 85 milioni mentre e’ ancora in programmazione in tutto il mondo. proiezioni multimediali ed una conferenza stampa.

“FOREVER BLUES” A FIRST FOR CINEMA AND MUSIC IN NEW ORLEANS
May 4, 2011 is the kick-off date of three days of events where New Orleans plays host to “Forever Blues” a feature film that blends the best of Jazz with the best of Italian Culture. The film is not only an Italian musical tribute to Louis Armstrong but is the heart warming story of how a trumpet player, starring international cinema icon Franco Nero, changes the life of a troubled boy by turning him on to jazz.
For the first time in the 41 year history of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, a film score concert is being performed, and followed the next day by an independently sponsored premiere of a feature film that inspired the music. The music of “Forever Blues” appears in both the concert and the film and is performed by Lino Patruno, the most highly lauded jazz musician in Italy and Franco Nero.
The screening on Friday May 6th, is presented by producer Bonnie Palef who fell in love with the entertaining and touching tone of “Forever Blues”, joining the idea of the Committee for Italians Living Abroad president Vincenzo Arcobelli and John Scialdone for a cultural initiative, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy and to offer this special event to everyone in New Orleans’ multi-cultural community.
The crowd pleasing “Forever Blues” reminded Producer Palef of similarly inspiring films such as Oscar nominated “Moonstruck”, and “Marvin’s Room” among her credits. The screening of “Forever Blues” will be outdoors under the stars at the Piazza D’ Italia and is organized and sponsored by the American Italian Cultural Center, Comites(Houston) The Scialdone Family, Frank Maselli and the Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Los Angeles.

The screening of Forever Blues and Lino Patruno's concert are one of the many events event undertaken in the United States to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unity, under the coordination of the Embassy of Italy in Washington and the auspices of the President of the Italian Republic. This endorsement by the President of Italy is a great honor to the filmmakers and musicians involved in “Forever Blues”.
This unique opportunity to blend Italian culture with the rich jazz heritage of New Orleans affords the community a chance to understand the power of the relationship between music and children. In Italy, the film won the Golden Globe Italian Foreign Press association “BEST SONG”, Franco Nero won a special Golden Globe Italian Foreign Press Association Award, and he was also awarded the “Premio Fellini” Best Direction Award for his direction of the film.
