Another most successful corporate networking luncheon was hosted by The Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Queensland. At the lunch, the special guest, The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Campbell Newman, urged all in attendance to continue providing assistance to Brisbane businesses and families affected by the recent disastrous floods.

Over 150 business people from the Italian community in Brisbane and from the broader business community attended the lunch and responded very positively to the Lord Mayor’s suggestions.

A highlight of the lunch was the auction of Ferrari for a week-end, complimented by a stay at Palazzo Versace, donated by Euromarqe and a custom-made fishing rod. The prizes attracted a successful bid of $2,800 from one of the Chamber’s new major sponsors, Vincents Accountants.

The proceeds of the auction were donated in total to the Queensland Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.

The President of the Chamber, Santo Santoro, welcomed to the lunch the major corporate sponsors, Ansaldo-STS, Euromarque, Singapore Airlines, Rydges Southbank and Beyond Web Developments.

He also thanked the Chamber’s loyal and consistent supporters, including dell Ugo Restaurant, Di Bella Coffee, Dolci Sapori, Merlo Coffee, Gerbino’s and Italiquore Wines.

President Santoro and Treasurer Peter Costello, in addition to many other guests at the lunch, paid tribute to the inspirational leadership that the Lord Mayor had displayed during the recent Brisbane floods.

President Santoro also expressed great appreciation for the ever growing number of people supporting the Chamber, which is slowly but surely re-establishing itself as one of the major, active Chambers of Commerce in Queensland.

“We are now receiving many requests for collaboration with other Chambers of Commerce and other like-minded organizations which is something that is very encouraging to the Board and the broader membership of the Chamber”, President Santoro said.

The Chamber is also working very closely with other Chambers of Commerce throughout Australia, with a view to encouraging trade exchange between Italy and Australia, with specific emphasis and reference to Queensland.
