Asia Song Festival to celebrate G20 Seoul Summit

The 7th Asia Song Festival will kick off at Olympic Stadium in Jamsil on October 23 to celebrate G20 Seoul Summit, under the theme “Let's go G20!” The Asia Song Festival is a major international charity music event, featuring popular artists from all across Asia. The festival is co-hosted by the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The song festival will spotlight performances by some of Asia’s best known superstars, including Korea’s Lee Seung Chul, BoA, and Rain, along with idol groups like 2AM, 4Minutes, and Kara.

Taiwanese star Joe Cheng will also be part of the festivities, along with China’s Jane Zhang, Malaysia’s Michael Wong, and Bie the Star from Thailand. Leading Japanese girl group AKB48 will also be there to add their special flair to the events.

The finale will be a group performance of the G20 campaign song, “Let’s go G20!”

There will be a special showcase event an hour before the main concert, with up and coming groups such as Teen Top, Rainbow, and rapper e.via. All proceeds from this year’s concert will be donated to UNICEF to help children in flood-struck Pakistan.

“This year’s concert is very meaningful in terms of celebrating the G20 Seoul Summit. Also, through this festival, we will develop cultural exchanges with other Asian countries, and share with people in need through our music,” said a representative from KOFICE.
