Il Comune Brisbane ha comunicato ufficialmente il nome del vincitore della gara d'appalto per la realizzazione del progetto Northern Link del valore di 1,7 miliardi di dollari australiani.
Si tratta del consorzio Transcity, joint venture costituita dalla Societa' italiana Ghella, dalla spagnola Acciona, e dalla australiana BMD Holdings. Transcity si e' aggiudicato l'appalto dopo avere vinto la competizione con un “colosso” mondiale: il consorzio composto dalla Societa' francese Bouygues, l'inglese Laing O'Rourke e l'australiana Transfield.
Il progetto, finanziato sia con fondi del Comune di Brisbane, del Governo statale del Queensland che dal Governo federale australiano, prevede la costruzione di due tunnel autostradali di 4,5 km fra le parti nord (Bowen Hills) e ovest (Toowong) della citta' di Brisbane. I lavori di costruzione inizieranno nel dicembre 2010 e dovrebbero concludersi nel 2014.
Va rilevato che la Societa' Ghella aveva partecipato alla missione istituzionale di ANCE in Australia del febbraio scorso, promossa dall'Ambasciata d'Italia in Canberra in collaborazione con l'agenzia australiana per il commercio estero “Austrade”, con lo scopo di promuovere delle opportunita' per investimenti in Italia e in Australia, la partecipazione di imprese italiane alla realizzazione di progetti infrastrutturali australiani e la costituzione di “joint ventures” anche in funzione di “triangolazioni” verso paesi terzi. Vi erano stati poi successivi incontri fra cui uno poco piu' di un mese fa alla presenza dei responsabili di Ghella, dell'Ambasciatore e del Console di Brisbane.
Il successo della missione e' un esempio di quali risultati possano essere ottenuti se ci si presenta come sistema, sia in termini di apertura di un canale di comunicazione con le massime istanze politiche del Paese e per valutare il mercato in cui si dovrebbe agire. Il Comune di Brisbane, cosi' come il Governo statale del Queensland ha attivato importanti investimenti nel settore delle infrastrutture, cosa che costituisce un sostrato favorevole per l'ingresso di imprese italiane.
Brisbane City Council officially communicated the successful tender of the Northern Link bypass project, which is estimated to cost 1,7 billion Australian dollars.
The winner is the consortium Transcity, which is a joint venture composed by the Italian company Ghella, the Spanish Acciona and the Australian BMD Holdings. Transcity was chosen as the preferred bidder over the international “colossus” formed by the French company Bouygues, the English Laing O’Rourke and the Australian Transfield.
The project which is financed by the Brisbane City Coucil, the Queensland Government and the Federal Government, predicts the construction of two highway tunnels stretching 4.5 km between the northern suburb (Bowen Hills) and the western suburb (Toowong) of Brisbane. Construction works are due to commence in December 2010 and are to be concluded in 2014.
It is worth mentioning that Ghella had participated to an international mission led by ANCE in Australia, last February, promoted by the Italian Embassy in Canberra in collaboration with the Australian Agency for Commerce (Austrade), with the aim to promote investment opportunities in Italy and in Australia, as well as the participation of Italian companies in order to create infrastructural projects in Australia and the constitution of joint ventures also into third countries. Further meetings were held at the presence of both Ghella representatives, the Ambassador of Italy and the Consul of Italy in Brisbane.
The success of the mission is an example of what can be achieved if acting as “Sistema” (in synergy), both in terms of opening channel of communication with political Authorities and to evaluate markets of interest.
Brisbane City Council, as well as the Queensland Government has activated important investments in the field of infrastructure, thus creating a fertile ground for Italian companies.
