Devo dire che anche con il premier Berlusconi abbiamo sviluppato un rapporto forte. Quando ci incontriamo è sempre un piacere, ridiamo, scherziamo, facciamo cose concrete e serie. Il premier Berlusconi è stato un grande amico degli Stati Uniti e mio personale. Il presidente Napolitano l’ho incontrato a Roma e poi di recente qui a Washington. La sua visione di un’Europa forte coincide pienamente con la mia. L’importanza che lui annette al rapporto transatlantico è identica alla mia. In questo senso, l’Italia è fortunata di avere un ottimo premier e un ottimo presidente».
