The first scenes projected July 8th, 2009 at 8 p.m. – “Multisala Adriano” (near The Vatican City), Section “Lavori in Corso (Work in Progress)”. Unprecedented in the context of Italian cinema, both for its subject matter and the advanced techniques it employs. 'Sacred Code' (direct by Jordan River) is a surrealist film that seeks to plumb the depths of human experience to reach the most hidden levels, sometimes suffused with light, other times with darkness. The 'Sacred Code' (prod.'Corbec Film') is the vibrant core concept: an ancient book serves as a metaphor of a destiny only half written, while the missing truth dwells in the hearts of two children whom a cruel and evil world tries to keep separate at all costs so that the book of the Sacred Code remains forever dead and powerless. …for the first time we see the ruins of the distant glory of the splendid city of Sybaris, rich with fascinating history. Technically speaking, given that the film shifts among various historical periods – from our own day to 3,000 years ago – we had to employ a number of digital technologies and applications. For the scenes of ancient Greece and the battle scenes, we used the most advanced techniques and the most modern soundstages in Rome. Flesh-and-blood actors play their parts on real sets, and are then integrated during post-production into the virtual sets created by our team of CGI and special effects experts. Latest-generation software enabled us to bring to life a world that lies beneath the darkness of the earth and that only now has been revealed in its magical splendor. The outdoor locations were filmed at Sila Lake in Calabria National Park, and the remaining shoots are planned for equally spectacular locales. Traditional make-up techniques were used to age Il Sapiente ('The Sage'), wisdom incarnate, voice of the divine…A terribly ugly creature, both gentle and divine: Lùghin – an exceptional character. After a long phase of 3-D modelling and rendering, by the sixth month the character was complete: pointed ears that touch the stars and rough, dark skin that belongs instead to the Earth and its life-giving power. A disgusting chin to strike fear in evil men, with the eyes of an angel to draw good ones to eternity.
